SEMCOM (Sardar Gunj Mercantile Co-op Bank Ltd. (Anand) English Medium College of Commerce and Management) is a self-financed college managed by Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) and affiliated to Sardar Patel University which awards all the degrees. The college is an ISO 9001:2008 certified by ISOQAR, India. The SEMCOM fraternity consists of faculty members and other supportive and office staff, led by Principal Dr. Waheeda Thomas.
SEMCOM offers four Undergraduate Programs
  • Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Hon.) in Information Technology Management (BBA-ITM)
  • Bachelor of computer Application (BCA)
The college also offers one Postgraduate Program- Master of e-Business/ Master of Commerce (e-Business).
A self-finance college is one which does not receive any financial funds/aid from the Central or state government is termed as self-finance or unaided college.
As per Sardar Patel University Rules & Regulations as well as rules laid down by the college, which are subject to revision from time to time.
International (NRI/Foreign) Students who have passed “A level” examination equivalent to 12th Standard examination, and without compartment in any subject are eligible for admission in any undergraduate programs. While for admission at Post Graduate Program, students who have passed Bachelor’s Degree in any stream under 10+2+3 or an examination recognized as an equivalent thereto with at least 40% marks, are eligible. Further, admission to International student is subject to eligibility criteria of Sardar Patel University, and Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Yes, for Admission at BBA, BBA- Information Technology Management (ITM) students need to appear in Admission Competitive Test (ACT) conducted by the college.
For Admission in Masters of e-Business/ Masters of Commerce (e-Business), students need to appear in Entrance Exam in form of an interview.
For admission at BCom and BCA there is no competitive exam, only merit of 12th standard or equivalent exam is considered.
Admission Competitive Test is divided into two stages, first is Presentation and other is Interaction with Experts. The aim of ACT is to impart learning to students while undergoing the admission process. Students should enjoy facing process rather than ramming stressed.
For UG admission, there is no need of work experience. For PG admission, we prefer student with work experience.
Yes, Hostel facility provided by parent organization Charutar Vidya Mandal. Separate Hostels for Boys and Girls are there, within walking distance from the college.
The fees of College are as per norms of Charutar Vidya Mandal, and approved by Sardar Patel University, which are revised time to time.

Yes, Scholarship is available to economicaly weak students from Charutar Vidya Mandal subject to Academic Performance. Students can also receive scholarship from Government as well as Caste Trusts.
No, full fees should be paid at the time of admission. However, payment of fees in installments may be allowed to meritorious students coming from poor economic background.
No. SEMCOM offers only full time Under Graduate and Post Graduate Programs. However, one can join Diploma programs at SEMCOM which run during evening Hours.

Yes, SEMCOM offers flowing ADD-ON courses to its students:
  • Advanced Diploma in Global Business
    It is a first-ever initiative in the entire country where a college takes into consideration the active participation of student sin the various curriculurm co-curriculur and extra-curricular activities. The entire program encompasses academic enrichment through workshops, seminars and reviews as well as experiential learning through activities, tours and internships. A student is required to earn minimum 26 credits for earning the Advanced Diploma in Global Business.
  • Certificate Course for Computer Competency
    Two non-credit courses on computer competency are offered to students for IT literacy. The modules include Office Package and Web Designing Databases.
  • Bridge Courses (Duration: 10 hours)
    Three bridge courses are also offered to students for increasing the proficiency level of students pursuing relevant disciplines.
  • Programming Skills development for BCA and BBA (ITM) students

  • Bridge Course in English for first year BCOM/BBA/BBA(ITM)/BCA
In addition to the above, various other courses are offered also offered to the students round the year, which develops their latent potential and makes them piercingly competitive. These include the development of Soft-skills, Communication skills, Presentation skills, IT skills, HR skills, Management skills, teamwork, Resource management, etc.
The key components of PDP are:
  • For First Year Students: Psychometric for understanding learning style, Communication Skills, Non-Verbal Communication, Soft Skills with role plays.
  • For Second Year Students: Introduction and demonstration of Group Discussion and Skit, GD Competition, Skit Competition.
  • For Third Year Students: Mental Ability Test, Entrepreneurship Development Program, SWOT Analysis, Goal-Setting with Time Management, Resume Building and Interview Techniques.
  • For Fourth Year Students: Writing Covering Letter, Resume Building, Training for Interview.
SEMCOM has a dedicated faculty with very high levels of competence and dedication. Time devoted to each subject in the time table is as per University specification. In addition concerned subject teachers take extra classes as and when required. Computerized study and practice material are given to the students. Class room teaching is very interactive and extensive use of teaching aids like OHP, charts, audio-video material is made.
Internal prelim examinations of 60 marks of full syllabus are conducted at the end of Semester. In addition, subject wise Assignment test is also mandatory. Intensive training and practice are imparted before the exams. Question banks are maintained for the convenience of the students.
Discipline is very strict at SEMCOM, especially regarding attendance and behavior in college. Attendance is compulsory and 80% attendance is required to be allowed for internal and external examinations. Mobile phones, chewing gum etc are strictly prohibited within the college premises.
The College has an excellent Auditorium equipped with multimedia projector and Dolby Sound System with the occupancy of 170 people. The college has three fully equipped computer labs with strength of 210 computers. In addition there is a state- of –the-art audio-video room for language lesson with is also equipped with multimedia facilities. The college also has a conference room. The labs and faculty lounge are fully air conditioned. The faculty also has individual computers for their use. The washroom and drinking water facilities are hygienic and carefully maintained. The College Campus is now having Wi-Fi connectivity for Internet Access.
The college has MOUs with Georgia South Western University and (USA). Cultural exchange for students and faculty is arranged in the summer of every year, for which the second year students are eligible.
Yes, SEMCOM has MOU with Elitecore Company Ltd, Ahmedabad in the field of Information Technology Education. The areas of collaboration are Network and Security Education, Internship and Placement, Projects and Field Studies, Seminars and Workshops, and Faulty Training. Parent organization Charutar Vidya Mandal has MOU with GIDC in areas of Tainting/ Stipends, Corporate Visits and linkage with business organizations.
College has active Placement cell. It renders its support to Master of Commerce (E- Business) students in preparing their profile and giving them enough guidance to select the right company for internship program too, as well as inviting companies on the campus. There is a special subject on Career Planning at Masters of Commerce (E-Business).
You need to fill application form of Transcript available at College office. Attach photocopy of all marksheets of your course. Fee is Rs. 500. You will get your transcript within one week of submission of form from the college office only.
Fill the Bonafide Certificate form available at College office. Take your class counselor signature and then after Head of the institution signature. You will receive the Bonafide Certificate within one day of submission of form from the college office.
